OMG

Boring, ouch, flat butt, boring.

I have been editing all day. While I am good at this part of movie making, I almost hate it. Let me write scripts, design navigation paths in drawings, be in the field shooting where I have to make decisions on the spot-all hard and nerve wracking for me, but so much more energizing—than editing.

Now that I think about it, I am very good at editing and keeping all the bits and pieces organized. I am by some part of my nature an editor and a producer, and I have been able to wrap a lot of my professional life around these good organizational skills.

But I am bored and somewhat anxious in these roles that I kind of am good at.

Maybe it’s because no one else really wants these roles-the big picture organizing stuff, but there are lots of talented people, like my co-editor and finishing editor DHL who thinks this work is the bomb.

I walked in today to give him my roughs and told him I was unhappy in edit land.

He was dumbfounded, he said something like, “ This is where the story happens…”

For me, I am a production and sign off on rough cut person.

But then there is that problem of being a controlling person…

It is now officially a 12 hour day and I am signing off. I am editing on a cool little 2 -3 music video montage of all the artists in residence at the de Young since 2005, including me, edited to a John Jang composition.

Life is good.
